Celtics Week 10 Preview

Well, last week was some what of a down week for the Celtics going 2-2. The Celtics will look to rebound this week and improve there NBA best 28-4 record. They Celtics play three games this week vs Portland, Washington and New York. The Celtics should be able to win all three if they stayed focused and don't have jet lag flying back to the East Coast. Let's break down the Week.

December 30th at 10:00 PM ET
Celtics vs Trail Blazers

The Celtics will take on the Portland Trail Blazers up in Portland later tonight. I think this will end up being the toughest test for the Celtics and the most entertaining game of the week. I have a good feeling the Celtics will have no trouble taking care of the Knicks or Wizards but the Trail Blazers are 19-12 and been having a great season. The Celtics will need to be able to slow down Brandon Roy who is the Blazers leading scorer at 23 points a game. The Celtics should be ready as it wasn't a long bus ride or plane flight away from Sacramento and they had an off day on Monday. I think the Celtics take care of the Blazers and win 104-96.

Friday January 2nd at 7:30 PM ET
Celtics vs Wizards

This is the second game of the week for the Celtics and probably the least entertaining and an easy win for the Celtics. I don't see the 6-23 Wizards to be much of a challenge for the Celtics, in Boston. I picked the Wizards to play a tight game with the Celtics they last time they played in D.C. and they got killed 122-88 and I see this game about the same. The Wizards in my mind are a surprise to be this bad. I never saw them at 6-23, ever with Arenas down. I think the Celtics win 124-91.

Sunday January 4th at 6:00 PM ET
Celtics vs Knicks

The Celtics end the week with a pretty good game with the Knicks in MSG. I also enjoy to watch the Celtics play in New York and this should be another fun game. The Celtics should also pick up another win and end the week at 3-0. The Knicks are having a pretty bad season at 11-18 and last in the Atlantic Division. Mike D'Antoni doesn't seem to have his team on the right track right now as they have lost 6 games in a row. I see the Celtics winning 114-96.

Celtics Week 8 Review

The Celtics had another very successful week. They had four games and won all 4 of them. When you win every game in the week you can't complain as a fan. The Celtics extended there winning streak from 14 games to 18 games this week and picked up wins 23-26. PG Rajon Rondo set his career high mark in points, twice. On Monday he scored 25 points vs the Jazz which was a career high at the moment and then on Sunday vs the Knicks he pasted his currently career high when he scored 26 points. A very good week for the Rondo and the Celtics.

Boston Celtics vs Utah Jazz

The first game of the week was Monday night when the Celtics took on the Utah Jazz in Boston. The Celtics look to extend there winning streak to 15 games in this one and did just that. The Celtics jumped on the Jazz early having a 12 point, 28-16 lead after the end of the 1st Qtr. The Jazz fought back in the 2nd Qtr and the game was tied going into the the locker room at half time. The Celtics were too much for the Jazz though, winning 100-91. Rajon Rondo lead the Celtics with 25 points, 9 rebounds, and 8 assists. Kevein Garnett had a double double with 19 points and 10 boards. Perkins also had a double double for Boston with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Paul Millsap had a career high 32 points to go along with his 10 rebounds.

Boston Celtics vs Atlanta Hawks

On Wednesday the Celtics travled to Atlanta to play the Hawks. This was in my mind the game of the week. A very hard fought defensive affort by both clubs. Also a very entertaining game. Neither team was able to shoot well, both teams under 45% from the floor. Neither team looked fluent on offense. The Celtics shot 44% from the field to the Hawks 36%. The Celtics shot well from the FT line at 81% but terrible from beyond the arc, as they shot 2-13. Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett lead the Celtics in scoring with 18 a piece.  Ray Allen chipped in with 16 points, along with Rondos 15 and Perkins 8. The Hawks were lead by Joe Johnson who had 20 points, 16 of them coming in the 2nd half. Marvin Williams scored 16 for the Hawks and Bibby and Smith chipped in with 14 a piece. Al Horford scored 8 points and tore down 11 boards to round out the Hawks starting 5. The leading scorer coming off either bench was Ronald Murray who scored 6, so neither bench had an impact in this game. The game was won in the final 30 seconds of the game when Perkins had a huge block to hold the Celtics lead, so the game could be won on the line.
Celtics win 88-85

Boston Celtics vs Chicago Bulls

On Friday night the Celtics were back home to take on the Bulls. The Celtics had there best offensive night of the season, putting up 126 points on the Bulls. This was the best offensive performance of the week, points wise for the Celtics. The stats also didn't look to shappy for Boston. The Celtics played well in this one. As I said they put 126 points on the board in there 126-108 beating of the Chicago Bulls. The Celtics offense had a decent night. They shot 59% from the floor, making 50 of 84 FG's and pretty good from the line at 82%. The Celtics shot expectionally well from deep, as the made 12-24, 3 pointers. Now the Bulls scored the ball too, putting up 108 points. They shot 50% from the floor and 78% from the line. They also shot 50% for beyond the arc, as they made 11-22, 3's. The Bulls turned the ball over more though, 21 turn overs will kill you if your playing a team as good as the Celtics. Boston only turned the ball over 14 times. I know Doc wants to cut that down, but 14 wont kill you if you play good defense and shoot the ball well. Ray Allen had a nice nice for Boston scoring 27 points to go along with 5 assists. Kendrick Perkins also had a great nice, scoring 25 points and pulling down 8 boards. Garnett has 16 points, Pierce dropped in 16 and Rondo only scored 4, but had 15 assists and was creating offense for his teammates. Tony Allen came off the bench to score in double figures, as he scored 10 points. The Bulls were lead by Luol Deng, who scored 19 points to go along with 7 rebounds. Derrick Rose and Ben Gordon were the other to Bulls starters to score in double figures. Rose scored 14 points to go along with 5 assists and Ben Gordon dropped in 10 points. Andres Nocioni scored 16 points and ripped down 6 rebounds off the Bulls bench and Joakim Noah also came off the bench to be the only double figures scorer, he scored 10 points.
Celtics win 126-108

Boston Celtics vs New York Knicks

The last game of the week came Sunday vs the New York Knicks in Boston. The Celtics extended there winning streak to 18 games with this win and picked up there NBA leading 26th win. The 18th win in a row ties a franchise record. A very successful night for the Boston Celtics and all Celtics fans. The Celtics ended the week at 4-0 with this win. The Celtics played the best offensive game of the week. This was a nice win for the Celtics. They had a great offensive night, putting up 124 points. I think it's the best offensive night of the week even though they put up a 126 on the Bulls, the Celtics shot better and seemed to have more offensive rythm. The Celtics shot 65% from the field in this one making 50 of the 76 shots the celtics put up tonight. The Celtics shot 50% from beyond the Arc again, but in this one making 10-20, 3 pointers. The only place the Celtics offensive struggled was from the FT line, only hitting 14-24 FT's for a 58% average. That didn't slow down the Celtics offensive numbers too much though, mostly because they shot so well from the floor and 3 point land. The Knicks put up 105 points, but didn't have the greatest shooting night. They shot 43% from the field and 76% from the FT line. They also shot good from deep, making 13-39 shots for a 39% average. The also took care of the ball, only turning it over 12 times to the Celtics 23 times. The Knicks were lead by Quention Richardson who scored 29 points to go along with 4 rebounds and 4 assists. Nate Robinson also had a good night. He came off the bench and scored 23 points. The Knicks had 3 other scorers in double figures, Chris Duhon with 20, David Lee with 17, and Al Harrington with 10. The Celtics were lead by Rajon Rondo who has a career high 26 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Ray Allen also had a decent night shooting the ball as he dropping in 17, Pierce scored 17 points and Garnett and Perkins put in 12 a piece. Tony Allen and Leon Powe came off the Celtics bench to score in double figures. Allen scoring 11 and Powe scoring 10.
Celtics win 126-105

Celtics vs Knicks Review

The Celtics played another impressive game tonight. They beat the Knicks 124-105 in Boston. It's now 18 in a row for the red hot Celtics as they picked up there NBA leading 26th win tonight. The Celtics are just playing amazing basketball, just beating up everyone in there path. The Knicks didn't stand much of a chance tonight as I figured. I didn't see the Knicks to have much of a chance tonight. Anwyays, let's break down tonight's game.

The Celtic's looked very impressive tonight in there 124-105  win over the New York Knicks. The Celtics opened this game up earlier, when they lead 40-21 after the first Qtr, the Knicks defense just wasn't there from the start. They played much better in the 2nd Qtr only allowing 26 points, but when you give up 40 in the 1st Qtr, the chances are you go into the locker room down. Which they did. The Celtics went into the locker room down 66-58. The Celtics controled the 3rd and 4 Qtr's and had no trouble holding off the Knicks as they went on to win 124-105. Rondo played another impressive game. He has a career high 26 points, 6 points, and 5 assists. 7 Celtics scored in double figured including the 4 other starters, Tony Allen and Leon Powe. Eddie House also chipped in with 9 points.

The Knicks defense looked bad in this one. Plain and simple. They gave up 124 points, that pretty much shows how bad there defense played. The Celtics shot 65% from the field, you'll never win if a team shoots 65% from the field. The Knicks only shot 43% from the floor and just didn't look very fluent on offense or defense for that matter. They shot 20-26 from the FT line and only turned the ball over 12 times to the Celtics 23, but the game was still a 19 point blow out. Quentin Richardson had a nice evening for the Knicks dropping 29 points on the Celtics. Nate Robinson came off the bench to score 23 points and Chris Duhon dropped 20.
Quention Richardson had a great night in Boston.  He scored 29 points to go along with 4 rebounds and 4 assists. Nate Robinson also played pretty good with 23 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists. The Knicks didn't play that bad on the offensiveside of the ball. They did put 105 points on theboard and shot an ok 43% from the field. They also shot 76% from the free throw line, which is also pretty average but not too bad. They took care of the basketball also, only 12  turnovers. They also shot well from beyond the arcat 39%. The offensive numbers were there tonight. The Celtics had a good offensive and a pretty average defensive night compared to some of the games the Celtics have played on defense this season. On offense they out up 124 points, so you can't really complain and on defense they only allowed to shot 43% from the field, so not a bad effort. The Knicks shot 39% from the beyond the 3 point line and that helped there 105 point total for the night. They hit 13 of 33, 3 pointers, which is a good night of long range shooting. The Celtics shot 65% from the floor and 50% from behind the line, so a very good shooting night for the Celtics. They didn turn the ball over 23 times, which is a little odd for the Celtics, but it's not a big concern of mine.

Player of the Game
Rajon Rondo had a nice good tonight and I think he deserving of the player of the game honors. He had a career high 26 points, breaking his career high of 22 set on Monday of this week. He also had 6 rebounds and 5 assists and was a big part of the Celtics 124-105 beating of the New York Knicks.

Celtics vs Knicks Preview

Next up for the red hot Celtics are the New York Knicks. The game is tomorrow night at 6:00 PM in Boston. The Celtics who are now winners of 17 games in a row will look to extend that streak to 18 games while picking up there NBA best 26th win of the season. They should have no trouble winning this game in my mind but the Knicks could give the Celtics a challenge and possibly win the game. Will have to wait and see.

New York Knicks

C: David Lee
PF: Al Harrington
SF: Wilson Chandler
SG:  Nate Robinson
PG: Chris Duhon

Boston Celtics

C: Kendrick Perkins
PF: Kevin Garnett
SF: Paul Pierce
SG: Ray Allen
PG: Rajon Rondo

In my mind the Celtics should have no trouble taking care of the Knicks. I see them winning this game and improving there winning streak to 18 games. I can see the Celtics blowing out the Knicks and bringing in a big lead into the locker room at halftime and this never really being a game, but as I said I see the Celtics winning 114-93.
